Youth Waiver FAQs - 2017-18

How do I find the online waivers?

The online waivers will only appear if you account is connected to a current team roster. Only a coach, captain, or DiscNW administrator can add a player to a roster. If you do not see a tab for “Recent Teams,” or you do not see your team under that tab, then please contact your coach and/or captain, or email info@discnw.org.

Where can I find a paper waiver?

If you would prefer to sign a paper waiver, click here: 2017-2018 Youth Event Waivers (combined).

Once you have printed and signed the waiver, please scan and email to paperwork@discnw.org or mail to: ATTN: Waivers, DiscNW, P.O. Box 85112, Seattle, WA 98145.

Why is an email address required for adding a player to the roster?

Unless a player has a preexisting account (you can tell if a player already has an account when entering your roster because their name will autofill as you type it in. Please select the autofill option!), we require that coaches and captains enter an email address for every player so that they or DiscNW administrators may send those players reminders to sign the online waivers (see question below).

How do I send reminders to my team to sign the online waivers?

  1. Login to your DiscNW account.
  2. Go to the DiscNW webpage for the event you are currently in.
  3. Click on the “Registration” tab and select your team name from the drop-down menu.

  6. A pop-up window will appear. Please select the players who you wish to send the e-waiver link to (only the people who haven’t signed the waivers will be shown), add a message if you wish, and click “Send Emails.”

    • Names with a green thumbs up next to it means that all of their waivers are completed
    • Names with a red thumbs down next to it means that the player hasn’t completed the waivers.
    • You can tell which waivers the players have signed in the columns to the right of the player’s name.

Do I have to sign the waiver every year?

Yes. Our insurance policy requires all youth players and their parents/guardians to sign the DiscNW waivers every academic year (September-August).

Do the waivers carry over to other DiscNW events?

Yes, as long as the DiscNW event takes place in the same academic year, the waivers will carry over. For instance, if your child played in one of our spring leagues and also attended Spring Reign, then your child would not have to sign the waivers again to participate in Spring Reign.

Why do the waivers change from year to year?

The general principals of the participation and liability waiver tend to stay the same, however, every year we receive feedback from parents, players and coaches regarding the content and language of these waivers. Every summer, we review this feedback and do our best to update and edit the waivers accordingly. If you have any questions or recommendations about our waivers, please email info@discnw.org.

Because our Concussion Information waiver is based on Washington’s Zackery Lystedt Law, we rarely make any adjustments to it. This waiver is to ensure that players, parents and coaches are aware of the symptoms and risks of concussions.

Why does DiscNW use an online waiver system?

Our online waiver system helps our organization keep track of everyone who has or hasn’t signed the waiver. It saves us from a lot of manual labor but also helps us better communicate with teams from out of state that participate in our events, such as Spring Reign.

Do you have any feedback about our waiver system? We would love to hear it! Please email info@discnw.org.
