This is a single-gender hat league for players in grades 8-12.***  In a "hat league," players sign up as individuals and are assigned to teams.  This league is a draft hat league, meaning that the team captains get to choose their teams.  Each team will be assigned a coach for the season.

  • Games are on Friday nights beginning June 11 and running through August 6.  Games will generally begin sometime between 6:30 and 8:30.  Most will be at Lower Woodland but some may be at Miller, Magnuson, and Georgetown.
  • Teams will have 1-2 games each night of league play, but there may be some bye weeks.
  • If field space permits, teams will have at least one Friday night practice during the season.

Registration Opens May 18
Last Day to Register for the Draft* June 4, high noon Extended to June 7, 2:00 pm
First Game Day: Payment & Paperwork Due
June 11

*Players may register as late as June 10, high noon.  However, players registering after the 6/4 6/7 deadline will not be included in the draft.  They will be placed on a team by the League Coordinator.

This is a qualifying league for the USA Ultimate (USAU; formerly UPA) 2010 Youth Club Championship (YCC) teams. That means that any player wanting to play on the Seattle YCC teams in 2010 can become eligible for tryouts by participating in this league.  Players who will have participated in either this league or the 2009 version of this league will be eligible to try out for the 2010 YCC teams.

***Please Note: Although 8th graders are encouraged to participate in the Youth Club Draft Hat league, the DiscNW Youth Strategic Committee has adopted a policy that players must have completed their 9th grade year in order to try out for the Seattle YCC teams, effective 2010 YCC.

Please click on the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) link at the top of this page for more information about the league, including its relationship to the YCC.

The league fee is $30. Financial aid is available.  When registration is open, a "Register Now" link will appear at the bottom of this section.  Remember to register by June 4 7 if you want to be part of the draft (late registrations will be accepted until June 10, but those players will be placed on a team by the League Coordinator).

Because this is a USAU-sanctioned event, there are a few extra paperwork requirements. Players must submit the following to their coach on or before the first day of play:

  1. A USAU waiver
    (unless already submitted in 2010)
  2. A USAU Medical Authorization Form listing the player's coach as chaperone
  3. A DiscNW Participation Agreement and Release (unless already submitted for a 2010 DiscNW event)

Players will not be allowed to participate until this paperwork has been submitted.

Additionally, it is preferred that all players be USAU members.  This is not a strict requirement of participation in the league, but please note that you must be a USAU member to play on the Youth Club Championship teams.  For information on UPA membership, click here.
