Coaching Requirements

The coaches' meeting will take place soon at the John Stanford Center for Academic Excellence (2445 3rd Ave. S., Seattle, WA 98134).  This meeting is required for all coaches.  However, there are many administrative requirements that must be addressed before coaches are permitted to practice with players.  Because most teams will wish to begin practicing before the 12th, we have oultined those requirements below.

Requirements for all Coaches

The following requirements are for all paid coaches (head and assistant coaches) as well as for all volunteer coaches:

  • Fill out the paper application (links below). 
    • Click here if you will be a paid coach and you are a returning coach or an employee of Seattle Public Schools. 
    • If you are a volunteer, there is a separate packet.  Contact  for information.
  • If you are a new coach (paid or volunteer), you must also complete a separate, online application  on the NeoGov system (instructions below).  This is not required for returning coaches/volunteers or for employees of Seattle Public Schools.
  • Call 206-252-0215 to schedule an appointment for fingerprinting by Seattle Public Schools.  If you have been fingerprinted in the past, double-check with your school's Athletic Coordinator to determine if you need new fingerprints.  You probably don't, but double-check just to be safe.
  • Make sure your first aid and CPR certifications are current.  They must be Red Cross or American Heart Association!  Certification is required before you step on the field, and you will need to submit it with your coaching approval packet.
  • If you haven't already, take the Adult Sexual Misconduct class, which is required for all coaches (paid or volunteer).  You must email to pre-register.  All classes are at the John Stanford Center for Educational Excellence (2445 3rd Ave. S. Seattle WA 98124).  Send questions to  
  • If you're a paid head or assistant coach, ask your Athletic Coordinator about any time sheets or other paperwork you need to fill out to get paid. Click Here for a list of AD's

Additional Requirements for Head Coaches

  • Complete the official district athletics roster, which is required in order for head and assistant coaches to be paid. Please contact for a copy of the form.
  • Make sure all players have submitted physical exams and parental consent before they are allowed to practice.
  • Make sure all players have submitted a Concussion Information Sheet before they are allowed to practice.
  • Be familiar with the district eligibility rules regarding academic standards and school enrollment and attendance.  Here is a document from 2011, which can give you an idea of the things that have been required in the past.  However, this may not be up-to-date.  Contact  for updated information.
