Congratulations to the Seattle YCC Teams!!
On August 11th and 12th - 3 teams from DiscNW competed against the best players/teams in the country at the 2007 Youth Club Ultimate Championships in Blaine, MN.
Both our Girls and Open teams went undefeated all weekend long and brought home trophies and gold medals! We definitely proved our number one seeding in both of these divisions! The youth ultimate in Seattle is clearly producing some of the best players in the country!
Congratulations to Mike Mullen and Sam Harkness who coached the Open team and Chris "Fozz" Forsberg and Amy Donahue who coached the Girls team!
Last year our Mixed division team showed heart but finished with 0 wins. This year the team was determined to come back and give a much stronger showing. Under the coaching of Jon Ladd and Hall Walker they succeeded in breaking seed (5th) and ended up the fourth seed after a 3-3 weekend.
The highlight of the weekend was their 6-15 loss to eventual division winners Atlanta. The score doesn't show it but every point in this game was a huge battle.
Thank you to all the parents/chaperones who cheered, made gatorade runs, and provided snacks and food all weekend long. We couldn't have done it without you!!
Below I present the 2007 YCC Rosters. Congratulations to all of you!

Youth Club Championships
YCC Tryout Registration is now open!
As some of you may or may not know - DiscNW was awarded 3 bids for the UPA's Youth Club Championships this year. You can find more info about what YCC is at http://www.upa.org/juniors/championships/2007_ycc_temp.
DiscNW will be holding tryouts for YCC on June 4th at Marymoor Park from 6 to 9pm on Soccer Field 7 and 8 (grass).
Prior to tryouts we will be hold a non-cut combine on Monday May 21st and May 28th at Marymoor on Soccer Field 8 (grass) from 6 to 9pm. This will be a great opportunity for YCC hopefuls to play/scrimmage. No decisions will be made at those practices but it'd be a great chance to go and play and meet some of the coaches and assistant coaches.
Practices thereafter for those that make the teams will be on Monday evenings at the same time. As of now we are booked for Marymoor but we are looking into options to move practices to fields in Seattle or Shoreline.
Please direct all YCC questions to .

Youth Coordinator Hired
I am pleased to announced that DiscNW has taken a big step forward as an organization by hiring Frank Nam as our first youth coordinator. Frank has been a DiscNW player and youth coach for several years and is already well known to many of you.
Adding this new job is very exciting. Our youth programs are one of the fastest growing parts of the organization and youth players are the future of our sport. It will be Frank's job to oversee this important part of DiscNW's operations and to find ways to continue growing support amongst players, parents and schools. His first day of work was December 4th.
The youth coordinator is a part-time, paid position and the second staff job DiscNW has created. Please join me in congratulating Frank wishing him well in his new role.

Camps are completed for 2006, but we'll be back in the summer of 2007.
Ultimate Frisbee is an exciting, non-contact team sport that mixes sports such as Soccer, Basketball, and American Football into one high energy game. Top-level Ultimate players require an unmatched degree of speed, stamina, and agility, yet the simplicity of the rules means it's easy and fun for newcomers to pick up. The sport is also self-refereed and thus, stresses mutual respect between players. The camp will be coached by veteran coaches from top Seattle high and middle school teams and experienced elite club players from the Seattle area.
