Re: Predictions for Sectionals???

Hmmmm, that can be a tough one.  Here are my picks (disclaimer: I love everyone)

1) Irish Wristwatch (aka Bezerkapiggy, aka Spawnfest Champions)
2) Joyride (who lost at the Spawnfest finals)
3) Pocket Rockets (who didn't do great at Spawnfest, but will do much better this time)
4) Guard, Seize Them (They are capable...and this is their time to prove it)
5) Possum (This is kind...but I think they can do it.  Go Possum!!!)
6) Vince (Never to be underestimated)
7) Good Times! (This is considering that the Steve Finn rumors are rumors)
8) Traffic (this also depends on roster...they could go as high as 5)
9) Cutthroat (I have no idea who they are)
10) Sweets (I'm assuming Walla Walla...they could go as high as high as 7)
11) Moby Flick (prove me wrong and I'll be happy)

9) Cutthroat (I have no idea who they are)

Cutthroat is a team from Moscow/Pullman.  They originally were going to play in Big Sky sectionals but changed their mind at some point.

That being said I only know one person on their team so I can't really comment.

Also known as Walnut, or Philbrook

Re: Predictions for Sectionals???

Cutthroat could be one of many combination of players, but if they are who I think they are then they've got a few solid guys and gals.  I'll leave them at 9, but will add that they could go as high as 6.

I'll also add that my top three should be pretty solid.  I think the true battle is going to be for that 4th spot.  I like Guard for what they've done since Spring, but they lose some points for competing in the B pool for Spawnfest.  Possum and Vince will be giving them competition for that 4th spot...and possibly Traffic and Good Times!  Last year Good Times snuck under the radar and had the element of suprise as they jumped on a totally-drained Piggy team to qualify for Regionals.  This year GT will be wearing a bullseye for all the locals to see...and that bullseye will be neon in the eyes of Irish Wristwatch (Piggy).

Re: Predictions for Sectionals???

Wow, glad to see that my team (GT) is getting no love.  Now we can play the disrepect card & bring it hard.

How quickly you forget that we took 5th in the A-bracket at Spawnfest, without Steve Finn, who as far as I know hasn't played any tournaments with us this year.  What rumor is it you're talking about?

Oh, and Sam?  What team are you playing on?  I want to bring a little something special for our game...

Re: Predictions for Sectionals???

I'd bump Guard down a bit as we'll have a half Guard roster, half pick-ups. Chemistry could be a problem.

Re: Predictions for Sectionals???

Dan, if you are referring to booze or bling then you can hand it off to any one of my many minions to bring back to me.  If you're referring to bringing your special "game" then I can only recommend that you bring said special game to all of your opponents...because you guys are going to need it to get above 5th.  As for rumors...I was pretty sure Finn was simply that.

Sadly, work has me out of town for the weekend.  Oh how I enjoy playing GT in all of their various shapes and sizes...but this guilty pleasure of mine will have to wait till next year (if there is a GT next year).

According to the UPA guidelines, "At least 50% of the players on a team's roster must reside in the section in which that team will compete."  Unless the team has an exact 50/50 split of people from the WA/BC section and the Big Sky section (which seems unlikely), they can't just choose which sectionals they want to compete at.  So I'm assuming their roster has more people from the Pullman side than the Moscow side....

Hey, the above is from ME, not Feinstein!  He must've left a bunch of cookies all over my computer last night.  Last time I let him use my computer.  Better check to see what pron sites he visited before my wife starts accusing me!

I really don't want to know what you and Coco have been doing with your cookies and porn sites! And I'm guessing that Jeni doesn't want to have anything to do with them (or the two of you together either)!

Re: Predictions for Sectionals???

The seeding for Sectionals was done using the UPA guidelines. Tournament performance and input from all participating captains had additional influence. Once this process is complete and approved by the regional coordinators, pools are automatically created using the online UPA tools for tournament coordinators.

As expected, the 4 teams that qualified for regionals were indeed the top 4 seeded teams. For the most part, teams finished within one spot of  their ranking with the exception one team - due to the second seed going 4-0 in pool play. The UPA and Sectional team Captains did an excellent job of forecasting team strength.

Iím happy to see this level of interest in the tournament results and Sam Brown for having the fortitude to start this discussion. My guess is that his predictions were based on League strength/performance which can vary quite significantly from the squad a team brings to tournaments.

Thanks to all the teams that participated in Sectionals. Congratulations to Pocket Rockets, Bellingham, Good Times! and Joyride qualifying for Regionals.

Re: Predictions for Sectionals???

Yeah, compare WA/BC's seeding vs. results to Oregon's seeding vs. results.  #2 Cannonball goes 2-3 in pool play and gets bounced early on Sunday.  #5 Denial goes 1-4 Saturday & isn't even in the running on Sunday.  Yowza.
