How many games?

Hi,

I see there are 5 rounds planned for Friday and Saturday.  How many of those rounds will typically be byes, and how many will we actually have a game?

Thanks,
- Nate

Re: How many games?

On Friday and Saturday, all teams get 3 games and 2 byes on each day.

Sunday will consist of playoff brackets, so the # of games for each team will vary.

Thanks,
Kong

Re: How many games?

Howdy, Kong.  : )  At Gnarly Gnines, my teammates and I talked with you a little about Potlatch and this 3-game/day situation.  At that time, you had said that the reason there are only 3 games per day is that there are so many teams playing (which is AWESOME), and there was only so much field space.

After that discussion, my teammates and I continued the discussion and a solution was proposed that just might be viable, so I wanted to bring it to your attention (maybe it already has, but just in case...).  Apparently the rounds are quite long--would it be possible to shave 15 minutes from each round and start 20 minutes earlier in the morning to create time for another round?

I ask just because Potlatch is so freakin' fun, and you TDs do such a great job creating it, that I want us all to get as much out of it as possible.  (Furthermore, with only 3 days per game, my teammates and I are concerned about getting lazy and stiff during the significant down time).  ; )

If it is not possible, I understand--it'll be a blast regardless--but just thought I'd throw the idea out for the sake of brainstorming.

Thanks for all that you do!

Re: How many games?

Part of the reason for the long rounds is because we don't want to rush you from game to game. We want time between rounds to play games/cheer, take a break, and visit with friends.

Re: How many games?

One other reason:

100 teams x 4 games = 200 games that need to be scheduled

we have 33 fields.

That means we have slots for only 198 games in 6 rounds.
