Info
Participants in the summer hat league represent a wide range of skills and age groups. Many players who start in Verns league or the High School leagues continue to hone their skills in the summer hat league. The league is geared towards beginner and intermediate-level players, and is a great way to meet new people.
As in past years, there will be a lottery for men.
Games will be on Friday evenings, probably around 6:30pm, though some games may be later.

Headlines
August 20 — Congratulations to Hogshead!
After defeating Megaparsec in the final round of playoffs, Hogshead takes top honors. Congratulations! 12 Gs takes second place, and Megaparsec is third. Complete results can be found here.
Becquerel and Skosh tied for first place in the spirit competition, each with an average spirit rating of 6.11. Well done!
August 8 — Playoffs continue
This week’s schedule has been posted. Again, note that games are in several different locations at varying times. There are four games on grass fields in Shoreline at 6:30pm: sunset is at 8:30, and there won't be lights, so start your games on time.
July 30 — Playoffs have begun!
Thank you all for reporting your playoff scores promptly! This week’s schedule has been posted. (Detailed rankings are here.)
Attention: The games at Magnuson (for the rest of the season) are at 7:45pm. We have the fields until 9:45pm. The lights go out shortly thereafter — start your games on time. Also note that two games are in Shoreline at 7:00pm.
July 18 — We've decided to try a new playoff format
This year we have decided to use a modified Swiss tournament scoring sytem for playoffs. This is a bit of an experiment; we’re hoping it will maximize the number of meaningful and well-matched games you’ll play during playoffs.
The swiss system is pretty obscure and complicated. The main points which you need to know are:
- There will be four weeks of playoffs (July 29 – August 19).
- Teams will be ranked going into each week of playoffs. Games will be scheduled between similarly ranked teams.
- The more games you win the better your ranking.
For those who are interested, the gory details are here.
June 28 — Clinic/Scrimmage this week in lieu of games
In honor of the 4th holiday and Potlatch, there will be no regular games this week. Instead we will be hosting a clinic and scrimmage. Please come! This Friday, July 1, 6:30pm, Magnuson park field 6.
June 6
Fire up! The first game is this Friday!
Team rosters and schedules will be posted to the website by sometime tomorrow. In any case all games the first week are on the synthetic turf fields at Magnuson park, 6:30pm, June 10 (arrive earlier to warm up, meet your team, &c!). Bring your cleats and both a light and dark shirt.
You should be receiving a couple of emails later this week: one from us (the league coordinators) and one from your team captain. In the mean time, [Enable javascript to see email] if you have any questions.
April 29
Registration is now open!
About buddies: You are allowed to name one “buddy” on your registration form. (More details here.) Men who are buddied with a woman have a markedly increased chance of doing well in the lottery.
