Love Your Fields
- Don't trash the grass!
Fields in Seattle are a limited. Good grass fields in Seattle are gold! It is important for every player to take responsibility in caring for these fields or they won't be there next season.
DiscNW often cancels games (at our cost) before the Parks Department closes fields because we know that fields torn up one week will only remain torn up for the rest of the season. If the weather looks bad, or if it's been raining for the past three weeks, give the DiscNW hotline (206-781-5840) a call and check the status your game.
Realize, however, that we can't check all fields on all days. If you find that you are turning a nice grass field into a mud pit, STOP. Either move the field or cap/cancel/postpone the game. We'll help you find fields for a make-up game, we promise!
- Leave it cleaner than you found it.
No one likes to see trash. Take a moment when you leave the fields to clean up the area around you. Nothing makes our sport look worse than seeing a bunch of garbage blowing around the fields after our leagues.
- Watch the noise
Especially on fields nestled in neighborhoods, watch the volume. You wouldn't want someone yelling (and swearing) in your backyard all afternoon. It's easy to get carried away so remind your teammates.
- Park legally
Not only are you risking a ticket, but the wrath of those whose driveway you just blocked. You're an athlete, you can walk the extra few yards to get to the fields. Again, it doesn't give people that warm fuzzy feeling about our sport when we block them in their driveways.
